ANTIDIABETIC EFFECT OF SOURSOP

LAXMANPHAL - SOURSOP - Annona muricata exhibits Antidiabetic activity. A. muricata fruit extracts were reported to have excellent antioxidant and antidiabetic properties by inhibiting key enzymes relevant to type 2 diabetes mellitus, such as α-amylase and α-glucosidase, in vitro. It contains Flavonoids that inhibit α-glucosidase activity through hydroxylation bonding that suppresses carbohydrate hydrolysis and glucose absorption and inhibits carbohydrate metabolism into glucose. The fruit pulp and leaf extract shows high effectiveness in inhibiting α-amylase and α-glucosidase, which minimizes the rate of glucose assimilation into the bloodstream after feeding, as compared with the standard drug.
