ANTIPROTOZOAL ACTIVITY OF SOURSOP

SOURSOP SHOWS  ANTIPROTOZOAL ACTIVITY Trypanosomiasis, Leishmaniasis, Toxoplasmosis, and Malaria are the most common protozoal diseases worldwide. Therapies developed using medicinal plants have gained importance due to the lack of treatment options for parasitic protozoal infections. The following studies were conducted to investigate the antiprotozoal activity of Annona muricata .   * A. muricata ethanol leaf extract showed antiprotozoal activity against Toxoplasma gondii. Reference A * A. muricata ethyl acetate leaf extract showed antiprotozoal activity against Leishmania spp. and Trypanosoma cruzii. Reference B * A. muricata ethanol leaf extract also has antiprotozoal activity against Plasmodium falciparum. Additionally, the dichloromethane fractions and subfractions of A. muricata bark and roots showed antiprotozoal activity against P. falciparum .
